Public Works
City of Angleton's Public Works Department consists of the following divisions:
Water
The Public Works Department operates and maintains three water plants which pump an average of two million gallons per day (MGD) and distributes water to approximately 7,000 connections. This department is responsible for repairing main water lines and service lines, water pressure, new connections and overall quality of water. The department is also responsible for maintaining an adequate amount of water for fire protection.
Sewer
The Public Works Department operates a 3.6 MGD wastewater treatment plant and 41 lift stations and repairs and maintains all main sewer lines. The city has cameras available to assist in locating problems in sewer lines, such as leaks and stoppages. The department has a sewer vacuum truck and jet unit to eliminate blockages in the lines.
Streets & Drainage
This department is responsible for maintenance of all streets and drainage in the city. The city has approximately 296,000 linear feet or 56.1 miles of streets. We repair and maintain streets, drainage, signs, and ditches. The Public Works Department owns and operates a street sweeper, a mini excavator, two backhoes, a gradall and various mowers, along with various other small pieces of equipment.
