The Angleton Police Department is a intelligence-led and community oriented police agency that provides excellent training and benefits to its employees. We currently have more than 50 employees, which includes 37 sworn officers, 9 telecommunication operators, and 8 support staff members. We proudly serve the citizens of Angleton, the county seat of Brazoria County, with a population of 19,429 covering 11.69 square miles.

Hiring Process

Phase One - Online Application

You must submit your application online. Paper applications will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will be an automatic rejection.  

Phase Two - Physical Readiness and Written Test


The written test will be a 50 question, multiple choice, examination that covers topics such as Texas Penal Code, Texas Code of Criminal Procedures, Texas Health and Safety Code, Texas Transportation Code, and other police topics. Applicant must make a minimum of a 70% to move to phase III.

The physical readiness test is a 500 Meter row on a concept 2 rowing machine. You must score 70% or higher to continue on to Phase IV. Click here to learn how to operate a concept 2 rowing machine. 

Phase Three - Personal History Statement and Document Submission


You will receive an email containing an Angleton Police Department Personal History Statement. Once received, applicants are given two weeks to complete this and submit all required documents. 

Phase Four - Oral Board Interview


The oral board panel will consist of at least five police department employees and may last approximately 15-30 minutes.

Phase Five - Background Investigation


A personal history statement will be given to the applicant and thorough background investigation will be completed. An additional interview will be held by the assigned background investigator during this investigation. A polygraph examination may be requested during the background investigation.

Phase Six - Interview with Chief of Police


Applicant will have an interview with the Chief of Police.

Phase Seven - Conditional Job Offer


Applicant will receive a conditional job offer from City of Angleton Human Resources. This job offer is conditional upon the successful completion of a psychological assessment and medical screen.

Phase Eight - Final Job Offer


Applicant will be given a start date.
