Code Enforcement Mission

The Development Services Department's Division of Code Enforcement mission is to enforce City ordinances that involve single and multifamily residential and commercial properties in order to maintain a healthy and vital community. The Code Enforcement Department works to prevent and eliminate aesthetic problems and ensures that residents have the opportunity to live in a clean, safe, and healthy community. The department also helps to maintain property values and a strong city tax base. This is accomplished by inspecting residential housing and commercial properties to ensure proper maintenance and compliance with minimum standards.

Responsibilities

The Code Enforcement Division responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Abandoned and junk vehicles
  • High grass and weeds (in excess of 14 inches)
  • Illegal dumping
  • Substandard structures
  • Trash, rubbish, and open storage
  • Rodent harborage
  • Property maintenance
