This is a message from the City of Angleton. We want you to be aware that any person who comes to your door soliciting anything – roof repair, clean up services, etc – are required by city ordinance to first obtain a peddler’s permit from the city that allows us to run criminal background checks on these individuals. The individuals that have obtained the proper permit will be clearly identifiable by a city ID badge that should be prominently displayed. Please contact the Angleton Police Department at 979-849-2383 if anyone comes to your door without proper identification.
Although these individuals may obtain a peddler’s permit, the city does NOT check their professional references and just because they have a permit, does not mean they are a reputable company. Please check references before exchanging money for any type of services to ensure that you are indeed using a reputable company. You should also check with your insurance company before committing to any repairs.
Thank you for your patience as we work together to clean up our city and please use extreme caution when using contractors you are not familiar with. Thank you.
